Contestants of the competition, be it Season 1 or Season 2, they have made a fame over in Taiwan as well as Asia after joining the competition. Among the most popular ones are :
Left Picture - 杨宗纬 Aska Yang Zong Wei
Right Picture - 萧敬腾 Jam Xiao Jing Teng
Despite their "weird" looks, both of them made a fame in the first season of the competition with their voice.
Aska have been performing steadily throughout the whole Season 1 till the media reported that he entered the competition with an age he insert wrongly on purpose when he first entered the competition. Although many thought that it was not a big matter, but due to the pressure from many sources, he quit the competition halfway and left quite a number of viewers in disappointment.
On the other hand, Jam is really one guy who's like Jay Chou周杰伦. Jay Chou have been quiet all the while before he came into the entertainment field, he was just writing lyrics and composing songs then. Once Jay stepped into the entertainment field, he took the world by storm. Jam's case was quite similiar in some ways i would say. He was just a bar singer performing regularly weekly and he made his first appearance in the One Million Star competition during one of the PK sessions in Season 1 and shot to fame since then.

Some Facts of the competition
The rate of 杨宗纬 Aska Yang being on newspaper is much higher than Jay Chou 周杰伦. The incident of Aska telling a lie about his age attracted many attention till the politicians in Taiwan came out and talk for Aska.
The first compilation Album came out on the same day as the album as JJ Lin林俊杰. Their album's selling record win JJ's album by 6 times and S.H.E one by 60 times.
Normally one slot of 10 seconds advertisement cost below 新台幣NT$30,000(3万). But during the airing of the competition, it went up till 新台幣NT$250,000 - 新台幣NT$ 300,000(25万至30万). The television station earned around 新台幣NT$50,000,000(5000万) each week ONLY through that competition.
The viewing rate of the show itself went up as high as 8.77%.
8.77% IS VERY MUCH OKAY!!!
Anyway...
Currently in Taiwan, they are showing the 3rd Season of the competition.
Previous 2 season only had participants from Taiwan. But this time in season 3 they have opened up for people Japan, Singapore and LA to join in.
Its already the last few stages of Season 3 on the time i'm posting this post. =)

Well, although some of their english sucks at times and yet some of them still want to try singing english songs and many of you english educated people would be quite annoyed with that.
Anyhow..
Personally, i do think that the competition is nice. Give it a try if you happen to come across it on TV or anywhere else. =)

Yang Zhong Wei sings very well, I have to say. When he sand the song of "Yu Tian", I was shocked how good he was able to use his voice to touch people's heart. I am hoping that he will come out with an album singing some other people's song.

My housemate and neighbors are Taiwanese so every Friday we will gather at my neighbors house and watch 超级星光大道 on their big flatscreen TV :D
Did you know that our very own Eric Lim appeared on Season 2 and made a name for himself? And in this upcoming episode Eric Lim's little sis (my friend, yay!)PK-ed off Obama! I can't wait to watch it. Whee! +)

Funny thing is, both the winners are not as popular as Aska and Jam.

I also noticed that the winners are not the most popular singers. I clearly recall in the final episode of season 1 when they were about to declare the winner, the audience was screaming Judy's name (Judy? O_o) and it turned out the winner was Yoga/James. Lol.
At least that proves One Million Star isn't some popularity contest. ^^
During the first season I was a big Aska and Kevin fan (Aska because of his amazing ability to make every song his own somehow, Kevin because of his age and talent), and during the second I supported Yuming and Queen (Queen for her voice, Yuming more for his looks. XD Jk.)
The third season...I only saw one episode during my trip to Taiwan recently, so I can't say...I only remember that guy from Singapore (or was it Hong Kong?) who couldn't dance, the girl (Lala, I think?) who got all these high scores, and Obama. ^^''' Ah well. Time for me to scry YouTube!

judy?? hmm i still think Yoga is better than judy though hahaha i have no idea why the audience scream judy's name.. and yes the main thing i love about this show is its not some popularity competition where it is sooooo lame and predictable, this show is not predictable haha
Aska is just amazing lar, i'm looking forward to his 2nd album now hehe and for 2nd season i only love one person, LIANG WEN YIN!! lolx she's superb.. Yuming and her, both are good!! =p
