Sugar Anyone?

22 April 2009 - 7.30PM onwards...

It was a night with an interesting topic altogether putting mobile email in the same line as SMS. As much as Gareth's yay to Text100, most of us were very well treated during the session. Make it a double Yay.

Though just an informal session, a few thoughts were shared on the technologies, advantages and drawbacks of mobile email. Something which i've never tried before, considering that i was still a student in the past few years, managing my email accounts on mobile phones don't really applies to me.

So while spamming, email addiction, multiple accounts and some further details on emails were discussed, what caught my attention was this...

one blogger taking out a phone with his fingers pressing some buttons smiling all by himself.

another blogger snapping a picture with his E series handphone...

then a few others having their fingers pressing the keys on their phones...

Soon, Kel Li showed me this...

I should have knew it!! The whole place was filled with frequencies where tweets were exchanged here and there. Now that's technology!!
*i'm expecting someone to come out with a new thing combining twitter, plurk, facebook, msn altogether =D

crazy Malaysian bloggers.
*i want a phone with wifi also la!! sending text to +447624801423 is a bit too expensive =(

Anyways, the later night was spent with a few friends drinking tea and coffee in a Sg Buloh's McD followed by watching the match between Manchester and Portsmouth at Jalan Ipoh.

2-0 YESSSS!!!~

Wooohoooooo!!!!!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~

yeh, too much sugar i suppose.
*oh do check out this place Saffron @ Solaris Mont Kiara if you happen to be there, nais.

*thanks David

Bye Bye Twitter, Temporarily or Indefinitely?

Just recently, Twitter have made a vast decision.

With the increasing amount of subscribers to the free service from Twitter enabling millions of people around the world to spread a specific message to a large amount of people at one time, specifically those who follow the sender on Twitter, the company have made such decision to stop sending outbound smses/updates through the number +447624801423.

Let's start with the bad news. Beginning today, Twitter is no longer delivering outbound SMS over our UK number. If you have been receiving SMS updates from Twitter via +44 762 480 1423, you'll notice that they've stopped and you may want to explore some of the alternatives we're suggesting.
The number which i'm familiar with for the past few months, among my friends, sending random updates as well as providing some entertainment to my daily life.

Its gone for now. ='(
"
It pains us to take this measure. However, we need to avoid placing undue burden on our company and our service. Even with a limit of 250 messages received per week, it could cost Twitter about $1,000 per user, per year to send SMS outside of Canada, India, or the US. It makes more sense for us to establish fair billing arrangements with mobile operators than it does to pass these high fees on to our users.
Currently, only Twitter users in Canada, India, or the US have the privileges of receiving Twitter updates through their mobile phones.

Twitter users/followers have to count on alternative methods to receive updates.

View the alternatives here.

Sigh, Malaysia is just a small little country in the globe, the company are currently negotiating with many telco. companies in many different countries and i guess Malaysia won't be in the top priority list huh??

We Twitter users in Malaysia will still receive updates though, but only through web then. Not through mobile phones. ='(

I just hope that this will only be a temporary situation.
