MTV World Stage Live At Malaysia @ Sunway Surf Beach

It was one of a kind! Being in the largest crowd in a pool. Yah. 20,000 people in a venue that was a surf beach when there's no other events. xD

The very first time a MTV World Stage music event happening in Malaysia itself. With big names such as Boys Like Girls, Pixie Lott, Raygun, Hoobastank, The All-American Rejects, Kasabian and our very own local band Estranged. Having to win the passes from TheStar Rage @ Twitter, i was looking forward to this very weekend going to Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach for this event.

It was as early as 2pm i left home heading to Sunway all thanks to Nigel & Kelli for the ride.

Met up with HsuJen, David/Royalshortness and her sister a.k.a QuirkyPrincess

Being not as privileged as the people who got tickets to MoshPit, we walked all the way to Sunway Lagoon's main entrance before entering Red Zone, the Surf Beach area where the concert is going to happen.

There were lots of people already at around 4pm and it actually rained for a couple of minutes where everyone started to wear the rain coat given by the sponsors.

and i was glad i met up with PekSan!!

Anyways, soon the concert started and everyone was cheering and shouting, jumping and clapping their hands not to mention there were some idiotic morons who threw stuffs on and off during the concert. Hope nobody got hurt. Zzz.

Let me just comment a little bit here and there about the performers.

Estranged
Having a local act being up on stage in an event that is broadcasted in 150 countries makes me proud being a Malaysian but of course, obviously, there were more people who support the other performers compared to our local boys. For me i would say that overseas music is at a much higher level than local ones. I can see the big difference when Boys Like Girls performed on stage where i compared on how they play and sing and interacts with the crowd. No Match AT ALL!.

Boys Like Girls
I felt pretty strange when not many people turned up on a special appearance of them at Sony Style - The Curve Damansara just days ago before the District 9 premiere and found out that they had lotsa fans here in Malaysia where everyone was basicly shouting out loud at the first drumbeat. Martin Johnson made the whole crowd go crazy when he started climbing up on one of the stand beside the stage. These guys were good!

Pixie Lott
As sweet and attractive as ever, this 18 year old who emerged into the international scene not long ago was the only female singer performing in this very music event. Having her performing is like adding some different element in this whole event to make it more interesting and i could see that she can really sing and such. Too bad that the band that was playing looks and sound pretty fake to me, singer can lipsync and so i call this a BANDSYNC. It was very obvious that every single song, the sound of the drums were different and the tempo and all were different with the song when the drummer played some parts. Gahhh. Anyhow it was still interesting. All because she's attractive nyahahahahaa. =D

Raygun & Kasabian
Alright for the performance from these 2 sides, i was either paying more attention on my extremely tired leg or i was wandering faraway in some unknown realm. Didn't really pay attention on them. Maybe just not my type of music though. I don't mean that they are bad, they both have record selling albums with fans all over the world so i guessed its just me myself. I just felt bad for Kasabian because they were the last to performed and lots of people already left the scene went The All-American Rejects finished their performance.

The All-American Rejects
Obviously one of the crowd favourite and one of the best performers in this event itself. I was having a numb leg by then with a sticky body being in a pool of 20,000 people. Everyone should be insanely exhausted already when they came up on stage as its like 4 hours past since the start of the whole event. Instead, everyone, well almost everyone(except me because i was too tired) went ecstatic and jumping crazily. Good performers, good crowd, NICE!

Hoobastank
When most of the people i know who attended this event said that The All-American Rejects was the best, i thought that Hoobastank rocks most!! I preferred their music more and of course, they were one of the crowds favourites as well with lots of fans in the event including me myself. Hoobastank had the crowd going crazy when they played a song with cheers and replies from the crowd shouting: "GHOST BUSTERS!". Totally unexpected and awesome at the same time!! Of course, Hoobastank was THE REASON i was looking forward to this event and when the famous sound of the guitar plucking came out, i went T__T.

HOOBASTANK RAWKS!!

Despite the stupid long intervals between different acts, the RM5 drinks and the rain earlier on, not to mention the amount of time spent standing with stupid people smoking around me having my sore legs, it was still a good event. I hope that they do bring better acts next time, a BIG TIME one with lots of record breaking histories behind them and so. Well, many said it sucked but i thought it was good enough. Having to attend this whole thing for free, i won't say it sucked, if you get what i mean. =)

All the best to the ones who are cleaning the venue tonight!!

The Canticle Singers, they are good at what they are doing...

THAT is why the price are at that range and THAT is why i posted about this on the very first day of MAY 2009. So that people who always complaint that they don't have money la, poor la, recession la can save up RM2 PER DAY starting from today and you'll be able to save up around that amount of money at the end of the month for the show.

Of course, buying the tickets at the end of May is something rather stupid to do, so go borrow RM60 from your friend if you're THAT poor and do what i said above and return back the RM60 to your friend at the end of the month.

Worse come to worse, go steal a student ID and act as an under 21 year old student to get the tickets at RM25 bah....

So, erm, who want to teman me go ah? I'm interested leh... Hmmm... I'm Serious. To Mah friends, do msn/sms/facebook me if you're going okay? I'm still finding kaki....
*anyways, the main reason i'm posting this up because one of the singer is my friend la and no i don't have free tickets =)

‘I’m a Musicon Celebrity thanks to Maxis Broadband’

It's the couple Maxis & Nuffnang AGAIN!! Woot!! I can still remember the wild live party by this very same couple last June. It was pretty awesome with animals bloggers roaming around in the party like nobody's business!!

Quite a scene that was. Read about it here and here.

So this time round it's all about music, music and MORE music. All these while, music artists are one of the main source of entertainment be it gossips, events, scandal and all, their lives are the ones that people would be interested in and some would try to impersonate them as well in many ways.

Learning musical instruments is somewhat a rewarding experience for me all these years and i enjoyed it pretty much and i thank God for that. I can still remember that i used to have this small little dream which i believe many of you out there would have, which is to be a music artist. Not a singer in exact, but a musician.

Performing in front of a crowd and having them clapping their hands cheering for the performance is somewhat some faraway dream for me.

Of course, if i have a good voice, it would be perfect. If. Sigh, being a music artist is so fun & nice at the same time!

People would pay attention on you, wanting to know more about you and you being in the limelight, unlimited exclusive invitations, sponsorship, and the luxuries that come along, all those stuffs are what most people have their eyes on.
Awesome!!

Of course, one slap to myself makes me awake left me here sitting in front of the computer forcing a smile on my face.

However, in conjunction of this upcoming party that the "couple" have installed for us bloggers, i've made this short little video to "memalufied" my ownself for a couple of seconds. =X

Yes, i know it's very "mengesiasuikan" and i bet you had a bad time watching the video made above lolx. Well at least there's some leng lui pics at the end of the video mah!! Right? xD
*sorry la i'm not as good as this blogger here --> Blogger Alexander Loh on the Piano for Nuffnang Music Bash 2009

I do hope that i can have a tiny part of my dream come true this very Saturday attending the party being a musicon celebrity for that few hours and Syiok Sendiri. I'm sure that those who're going there think so too right? Ha!!

Oh and yea, if you're having a headache on the costume part, head over to Nigel's blog for more info, he posted a wicked place that have costumes from Catwomen to Ironman to Predator!!

thats the way la Malaysia. Keep it up!!

One day, some member of some politician party got bored. He was in charge of promoting Malaysia to the world and Msia independence day-31st August is just around the corner. He do not have enough time as the deadline is 2 days before Malaysia's 51st birthday.
and so he came up with this brilliant plan of his to promote Malaysia in a short span of time.

Propose for a ban of Avril Lavigne concert that is. The Arts, Culture and Heritage Ministry love the idea so much that they stick with the plan almost immediately. So, here you go.

The news of Malaysia Banning Avril Lavigne concert @ 29 August is all over the net for the time being.

If you do not know about this news yet, go knock your head on the wall. This is such a memalufying moment for us Malaysians.
"
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Malaysia on Tuesday canceled a concert by Canadian rock singer Avril Lavigne, saying it may taint the Muslim-majority country's independence day celebrations after the Islamic opposition slammed her show as being "too sexy."
What is wrong with you peeps that plays the politic games. Seriously i don't see anything TOO sexy about Avril Lavigne.

Come on la, you do not need the noodles in your head, go cook it and eat it up yourself, spicy or original, your flava. Don't come out to the world sharing your noodles with everyone showing the world that Malaysia is such a crappy country. Not every Malaysian LOVE maggi mee OKAY!!!. I LOVE CINTAN.

and what does Avril's concert have to do with Malaysia's Birthday?? Avril's concert won't reduce the patriotism of the many Malaysians that love Malaysia to bits. There're people who love both Avril and Malaysia.

latest single by Avril Lavigne - Rock Version of Tanggal 31. Yes? No?

Lets say i love my girl and my mom, my girl is a singer and she have a concert and the concert is 2 days before my mom's birthday. So, now you're telling me that me going to my girl's concert will reduce my love for my mom?? WTFISH... CRAP!!! Really... results of too much MAGGI MEE.

previous single by Avril - Rasa Sayang. Can?

My mom is just like Malaysia, without my mom, there won't be me, without Malaysia, there won't be the joshuaongys you see here typing this post out. My girl is just like Avril, my girl didn't came in my life before i'm born, Avril didn't too, THEY BOTH CAME INTO MY LIFE A FEW YEARS AGO. Okay maybe my example is wrong.

Alright fine!! You WIN!! Maybe we should have something like this.

Avril performing Tanggal 31 and Negaraku in the concert itself. OK?? HAPPY??

No!!!??

Too sexy huh?? Too near to 31st August huh?? Ban huh??

Please ban Michael Phelps from appearing on Malaysian Media thank you, i had enough of him already all over the news, he's TOO SEXY winning TOO many medals.

and yes, there're many SEXY stuffs on the net as well. Please do ban the internet and use the internet to make us Malaysians MORE PATRIOTIC as well!!!

this is what i mean, Internet making us Malaysians more patriotic!!

"
Malaysia requires all performers to wear clothes without obscene or drug-related images and be covered from the chest to the knees. They must also refrain from jumping, shouting, hugging and kissing on stage.
and let me show you a video.

Focus on the talk starting from time 1.24

I find it damn hilarious but "memalufying" at the same time.

not only you're not allow to show skin, but during the concert,
they don't want the performers jumping or shouting...

dude its a concert, thats the whole point of a concert.....
you miss the whole point of the concert

O.O

with all the drama all these years, i start to think that all the politicians in Malaysia are "james bond" like undercover, sent by neighboring country to ruin Malaysia's name mengesiasuikan Malaysians. Just that they are not as intelligent as James.

alright lets go back to Avril Lavigne..

YOU THINK SHE CARE?

So yea, Malaysia Boleh!! Keep up the good work man... Keep it up!! Even if now they already said that it will be postponed, but the "memalufying" statements have already been said. What can we do?? The whole world is making Malaysia a laughing stock already. Great. =)

"
一个充满希望与感動的声音!
One moving voice which is full of hope!

一個用笑容和热情追逐夢想的短褲少年
A youth in shorts, chasing dream with his bright smile and passion

网路讨论度最高的 人氣學生歌手!
The most discussed online student singer in the internet(Taiwan internet)!

這傢伙真了不起!有些人要愛、要自由、要別人的尊重,他只要他的眼鏡、和一隻吉他,就什麼都有了!!
This is really somebody!! Some people need love, freedom and respect, he just need his specs and his guitar, and he own the whole world!!

他是被公車輾過的音樂鬼才!
He's a Talented Music Person that survived a near death experience!
"
Comments on Crowd Lu - 盧廣仲

Many years ago, Jay Chou周杰伦 came into the scene and many people thought that his songs and the way he sing is pretty crappy, especially those experienced music person in Taiwan music industry.

With his unique way of interpreting and conveying Chinese songs, he managed to secure a very large fan base supporting him.

He even look different compared to the time he first appear.

Then, just 2 years ago, Jam Hsiao 蕭敬騰 stunned everyone with his voice, through a popular Taiwan Entertainment Show and he got famous and performed in various places/awards even before his album was out.

this is how he look now.

o.O

and now, let me introduce someone to you peeps.

藝人特質: 憨厚男性大學生,香菇頭,不善言詞,講話小害羞,無俚頭,運動員打扮,把yeah時時掛在嘴邊。真誠,自然。
The characteristics of him : A typical Taiwan college student, mushroom hairstyle, not good in conversing, shy, lame, always in sports attire, always saying "Yeah", sincere, natural.

Remember the stuffs i mentioned above before i come to Jay Chou 周杰伦? Those are all the comments people said bout this guy below.

He is Crowd Lu 盧廣仲 (Yet another weird english name)

A talented male singer and song writer from Taiwan. After a near death experience on a traffic accident, he learned how to play the guitar and began his journey as a singer.

he was first noticed through the internet, one of the millions of internet user who posted their own music video clips online. He turned his dream into reality one step at a time to become who he is today.

Since end of 2006, he have been going around in places in Taiwan to perform. Live performance.
One of his "famous" performance was imitating the well known Male Singer who can reached the highest note in history, Vitas.

and the video clip of him imitating Vitas was circulated over the internet and the one that was posted on YouTube have 840,000 views already, not mentioning and counting the views on the same exact clip that was posted on other video clips website such as TuDou and etc.

He have 3 singles sold separately and over 10,000 copies were sold. That is quite a success for a new singer that surfaced in the Taiwan music industry and with numerous live performances, he’s gradually becoming more and more popular, especially among students in schools/college.

you think that this is a prank? NO!! its NOT!

In May 2008, Crowd’s first album “100种生活/100 ways of living” was published.

and recently, he even appeared on One Million Star Season 3 [超级星光大道3] which made him even more famous in Taiwan.

Here are some other comments people said about him after listening his songs/watching his performances.
"
我們做音樂,都是被音樂玩,只有他是真的在『玩音樂』!一把吉他在他手上的那種自由不受限,太精彩了!
We who produce music are always controlled by music itself, but him, he's really Playing with music, with just one guitar, we can feel that unlimited freedom/possibilities in him, its just AMAZING!

你有聽過他模仿Vitas嗎?超妙的!」「他今天講了一個笑話,超白癡!
Have you heard of him imitating Vitas? it was amazing!! and today he told a joke, it was damn LAME!!

他不是在表演,他是在自得其樂!
He's not performing, he's enjoying himself!

音樂有時其實不需精密設計、深思熟慮,而是最自然直接的情感抒發,是對生活細節的呼應
Sometimes you don't have to plan so well on music, just do it naturally and interpret it with your own way, how you feel like, its like how you go on with your details of your life.
"
You can't possibly plan every single thing in life right? There must be a bit of excitement here and there with some unexpected surprise, then only life will be interesting!

The music scene in Taiwan might be incredibly crappy at times, but just see on what happen there. Piracy incident that make life hard for music artists in many countries in the world, but yet Taiwan's music industry is getting better and better each year. There must be something going on over there.

I have no idea how will Crowd Lu 盧廣仲 become in the future, but i've listen to his album and i do think that his songs are quite nice, he got my attention that is. Taiwan is an interesting country. =P
