Ah Sang Bak Kut Teh @ Sungai Way

It was a sunny day where a few of us planned this lunch trip to welcome Amy back to Malaysia. She was studying in UK previously and she's back just to renew her visa ha.

So it was Ah Sang Bak Kut Teh for lunch on a Sunday noon, the 9th of August 2009 to be exact. The infamous Bak Kut Teh place that claims that you don't have to get all the way to Klang to get your dosage of BKT, just go to Ah Sang and you'll get it.

and with the various food reviews on the internet by fellow foodies, this very place providing BKT will at least be at a certain standard that is.

There's lotsa people there when we reached there and we were lucky to find an empty table i suppose. Took a few pictures before we started. and here comes the food.

We ordered the standard portion of BKT for 6 person with almost everything available in it except for the special parts, the intestines that is. Pork ribs, Pork meat(fat and less fat ones), Golden Mushrooms, Fu Chok and along with it is a plate of Sang Choi.
*yau char kwai sold out at that time already. =(

The Bak Kut Teh there weren't as good as most people described, the herbal taste wasn't that strong as how i preferred but then the meats were quite nice, soft and tender to my liking where the Sang Choi was just nice for me. The price per person is RM11 and we had a plate of Sang Choi with a few more extra bowls of rice so it was around RM13 for a person.

Still fine with me as i don't frequent BKT that much haha but seriously if you ask me i would prefer the BKT at Kepong or at Jalan Ipoh as this one @ Sungai Way isn't way better than the 2 mentioned ones that is nearer to my place. =)

Do try it out if you're around that place then!

Mali's Corner Char Koay Teow @ Danau Kota

Last Wednesday, i headed to this place in Danau Kota for supper with a few of my friends. It was a well known name around the area amongst Tunku Abdul Rahman College students where they were especially famous with their Nasi Lemak Ayam & Koay Teow Basah.

A relatively new shop situated in Danau Kota near to Platinum Victory 10 Condominium.

Along with YewJoe, FeiYeh, WeiSze and HoongWai we ordered 3 Koay Teow and 2 Nasi Lemak Ayam!! xD

Nasi Lemak Ayam - 4/5 RM5

The Nasi Lemak was awesome, still best as ever since the last time i had in over at their branch in Taman Bunga Raya. Their Sambal, one of the best ones in KL!! and i guess i don't have more to describe about this above right?

Char Koay Teow Basah - 4/5 RM5

I've not try this one above before despite studying in Tarc all these while, yea shame on me, and to my delight this Char Koay Teow tasted deliciously nice!

One of the rare ones that gives you the impression that it was fried Chinese Style, and what was special about it, i kinda feel that it's like a combination of both Malay & Chinese style.

You don't usually get Char Koay Teow by Chinese that looks like Wa Tan Hor/Yuin Yong wan. That i call 1Malaysia Lah! Lol. On top of that, this specific plate of Koay Teow includes 5 big prawns. You need to try it to believe it yourself.

Totally worth your money if you ask me. RM5. *Drools*

What makes me wonder is that the amount of people there weren't really much despite the fact they served are pretty good. Perhaps it's because of the Overrated Old Town Kopitiam which is on the same row.

A cup of Teh Ais after the super awesome supper with some stupid conversations going on.

Ah i love my life!

Did not manage to get the exact address, anyways you can refer to Google Map here where they're on the same row as Island Red Cafe. =)

Restoran Logenhaus, Taipan, Subang Jaya

It was more than a month ago that i visited this place for lunch.

With my beloved of course. We were in Taipan to settle some stuffs and so we went around hunting for food around the place after we finished our business.

and i was actually attracted to the place when i saw this...

Set-Lunch Local & Western from RM7.99. O.O

Parked nearby and headed in to the place and to my amazed, it is quite a nice, cozy and comfortable place. Nice to have a peaceful meal enjoying your time!

Had a look on their set lunch menu and again i was cheated by the promotion they placed out of the place. Lolx. From RM7.99 onwards la but only one choice and its Chicken and Egg Salad. T_T.

Well, never mind, because we liked the place so we proceed with our orders.

Spaghetti Bolognese for the beloved. Quite normal though just like every other same dish that you can get at various places. So i will say that its fine. Average rating for that.

Grilled Lamb Chop with Mushroom Sauce for me. I didn't request on how many percent i would like them to cook. and so the meat turn out to be a bit hard to chew though, but it was still all good for me. I loved the potato wedges though. Haha weird. An average rating for that as well. =)

We had Nachos as well and this one i think that its pretty good. I like it. How is it? Crispy? Lolx.

Anyways, both our sets includes one soup of the day and one cup of tea, though i felt a bit cheated by the promotion, i enjoyed having my meal at this place.

Would like to try this though if i ever visit this place again.

What i have to say about this place? Basically the food is just normal but the environment, the place is comfortable to be in. Give it a try perhaps?

Yishensu - A Vegetarian Connoisseur @ 1 Utama Shopping Mall

All these while, i'm not a big fan of vegetarian food and of course i don't totally push it out of my life where i'll have it from time to time from a nearby vegetarian "zap fan" stall during lunch.

Anyways, the last time i have such a similar session was way back before Chinese New Year @ Kechara Oasis, Jaya One. Back then, I wouldn't say that it was impressive as i was a bit that disappointed.

Thanks to Ken, This time round, i joined a few familiar ones like Sidney & Sunny, Wilson with a few new faces from here and here. =D

It was on the 17th of May 2009. Hehehe.

and we were at Yishensu, a vegetarian restaurant @ 1Utama which have been around for a few years and their history can be traced back to the year 1965 where it was a family business that was started in Perak, specifically Ipoh & Kampar.

So now, we shall go to the food straight away!! Hehe.

We had a combination of a few regular dishes as our first plate. With the very tasty Cola Flavour Spare Rib - 4/5 at the middle of the plate, there were 3 other type of vegetarian food served

Golden Prawn Mayo 4/5

Shark Fin Egg 3/5

Cuttle Fish with Satay Sauce 3.5/5

The first plate with the mix of the few ones mentioned had me sitting down eating happily having a good impression on this very restaurant and at the same time being confused as the food tasted as if they were really prawn & cuttlefish & etc. =D

after that, we were served with a few selections of vegetarian food at one shot and i was spoilt with choices!

Fried Koay Teow 2/5

Alright before i go to the other dishes let me talk about this one single disappointment of the session. In my opinion the Fried Koay Teow isn't as nice as it looks and it is actually one of my favourite food so.... =(

Pineapple Fried Rice 3/5

and so lets talk about Pineapple Fried Rice, me likey the seaweed and the fake prawns actually with the cashew nuts and of course, the pineapple fried together with the other ingredients, Yummy!

Emperor Taufu 4/5 - RM16

I love this very dish for the main reason being because of the Taufu steamed with "minced meat" above with Siew Pak Choy as decoration on the sides, the soft and smooth Taufu which i still remember till today. Awesome!

Dried Curry Fish 3.5/5 - RM22

Don't be deceive by the name of the dish as it is filled with lotsa gravy but that doesn't mean its not good, its actually quite a tasty dish which includes the usual vege cooked with curry such as lady fingers, long beans and brinjals with the dry beancurd playing the role as fish. It was just nice, not too CURRY nor too less CURRY. Haha

Stir Fried Bean Sprout 4/5

This is a very simple dish cooked with carrots, corns and assorted mushrooms. Simple but delicious in my view, and its healthy as well!!

Teriyaki Vege Duck 4/5 - RM16

Oh this is very very very nice. "Man Tau", Chinese Steamed Bun were served and you must take the Teriyaki Duck with the bun which taste superbly nice. I was later told that it would be much more nicer if the slice of cucumber were added in between to add the crunchiness!! A must try dish!!

Mix Vege with Lotus Root 3.5/5 - RM16

A widely known dish among the vegetarian food goers, this is one common dish you can see in most places that serve vegetarian food. Couldn't get more of the lotus root, love it to bits i must say. =)

Yishensu Nasi Lemak 4.5/5 -RM9

Being a person who don't frequent places that serves vegetarian food, I don't expect seeing nasi lemak in its menu and i must say that the Curry Mutton taste really really delicious and i almost got deceived by its texture, taste and how it goes along with the rice. A must try dish if you love Nasi Lemak & Vegetarian food at the same time!!! Oh did i mention that the rice and sambal is good as well?

Chicken Chop 4/5 - RM20

Oh and i was shocked to see Chicken Chop in the menu as well. I'm so outdated Gosh. A similar look to the original ones out there in the market, the taste and texture is really close as well and i must say, those who processes and produces vegetarian food are genius, crazy!! Its quite tasty Hehe.

Vege Claypot Chicken Rice 4.5/5 - RM20

Last but not least, being one of the popular dish of the restaurant, this specific one didn't disappoint me and i was glad at the end of the day. Cooked with mushrooms and "chickens"...

this one claypot dish is not like the usual claypot dish out there where you can get that slight overcooked rice on the side and beneath so some might like it while some might love it. For me i enjoyed it pretty much!

Pumpkin & Sweet Corn 4/5

Sea Coconut 4/5

The dessert we had were small bowls of Pumpkin & Sweet Corn and Sea Coconut at RM4.80. I would say that i think that the bowl of Pumpkin & Sweet corn appears to be nicer than the later dessert. Nuff said.

and so, that was food review session @ Yishensu. A vegetarian place where i would recommend and in my opinion serves better vegetarian food than Kechara Oasis. =D

Sunrise Duck Rice @ Sea Park, Petaling Jaya

I almost forgot about this lunch i had with MikeYip, Steph and my girl. A place i never knew of its existence despite its long history serving the public with its famous duck rice day and night with different stalls operating.

Thanks to Mike, i had this very yummy lunch at the 25th last month.

Upon reaching, i could already see the crowd there sitting in the premise, not counting the people standing out of the premise waiting to be seated or waiting for their turns to make a "take away" order. This whole scene was quite similar to the time i went for "Siew Yuk(Roast Pork)" somewhere in Pudu. People coming in and out non-stop.

Anyways, Mike & Steph already finished up half a duck already by the time i reached, and they ordered 1 more duck to get ready for second round and of course part of it was for me and my girl.

I LOL-ed when Mike talked about the reactions the people gave around him when they finished their first round and ordered 1 more duck where the people around giving him those "Wah, sure anot, eat so much meh, 2 person only wor!!"

So, here it is, the duck!! and it's delicious yummy yummy, very the nice when u dip it into the sauce they provide and put it in your mouth. I like it because they have the herbs in it and i like food cooked with herbs. =D

and i tell you, their business is freaking good!!! Quite amazing i thought with really no signs of recession in Malaysia. See the picture shown above? Imagine the whole row is full, the whole time i was there, they served/sell out at least 2 rows of ducks there.

By the time me and my girl left with the extra half duck take away for her friends, they served 3 rows already!!!

O.O

and this is the price list.

1 Duck for RM49
1/2 Duck for RM25

1 Plate of Duck Rice RM7.50

Well, after all these people have already build their base there for quite a long time already and they are well known for their oh so yummy duck rice in that area so its explainable that they are charging at that rate.

Just 2 thing, the weather that day was freaking hot and i was all sweating having my meal and the thing with eating at such famous place, you can't enjoy your meal slowly as there're people outside standing waiting to be seated and you can feel the invisible pressures that stress you to eat as fast as possible.

So, Duck Rice Anyone?
